Valerio Giacosa is a supporting character first introduced in the Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse series. An Italian TSF pilot assigned to the UN 3rd Force's Argos Test Flight, his outgoing nature, combined with his perverted nature, has made him infamous amongst his friends, and the UN personnel of Project PROMINENCE.

He is also the brother of Monica Giacosa, the female lead of Muv-Luv Alternative Chronicles Rain Dancers.

Total Eclipse[]

A person more often seen talking about others rather than himself, little is known about 2nd Lieutenant Valerio Giacosa's early life. Usually seen as an easygoing man, Valerio has an immense hatred towards the BETA for destroying his country and killing his friends and family, notably showing a different side from his usual carefree self when engaging the BETA.

Known as a pervert by his teammates from both mannerisms and actions, Valerio can also been seen hanging out with the pilots of Argos, where he usually spends most of his time delivering comebacks to 2nd Lieutenant Tarisa Manandal's words. Despite their frequent arguments, the two remain close friends, with Valerio acting as a counter for Tarisa's more impulsive moments. Yuuya Bridges nicknamed him "Macaroni", presumably in reference to his nationality.

With the callsign of Argos-3, Valerio was in Argos Test Flight well before 2nd Lieutenant Yuuya Bridges' arrival into the unit. He initially piloted an F-15E Strike Eagle, and was later assigned the second F-15・ACTV Active Eagle shortly before the test flight was deployed to Kamchatka. Valerio performed well enough with the Active Eagle during the Kamchatka exercises, Blue Flag, and the Yukon Base Incident.

Later on, after having left Argos, he was last seen during Operation Ouka, piloting a brown EF-2000 Typhoon.

Trivia[]

  • In the novelization, the mechanics and technicians of Argos, as well as most of their supporting UN personnel, have a nice nickname for Valerio: the Wandering Love Hunter, or more scathingly, "Carnal Knowledge of Wandering" (彷徨える愛の狩人).
    • This came back to haunt him in the aftermath of the RLF attack on Yukon base when the DIA investigated his background and initially believed he was a sympathizer given his numerous sexual liaisons with Natalie Duclert, a known RLF terrorist. The allegations were eventually dropped due to lack of evidence and his actions during the attack that opposed the terrorist group.
  • In Rain Dancers, Monica mentioned him to Captain Hugh, by mentioning that she will 'introduce a Roman guy with long beautiful black hair' to the Captain.
  • According to Rain Dancers, Monica mentioned their Grandfather was an engineer who played a vital role in the development of the F-5E Tornado. Their father was also mentioned to have been drafted as a soldier, and though the two saw him as an ordinary father, he had apparently died heroically at the Plains of Po.
